Men’s
Bible Studies
There are three men's Bible study opportunities offered
weekly at SOTV. All men are welcome to these studies.
These studies may focus on a specific book of the Bible
or on a given scriptural theme. Conversation is lively
and interesting, with the goal of learning what God is
saying through his Word that we may come to know him as
disciples and grow in faith and servanthood. Come
anytime and don't worry if you have to miss in a given
week. Contact Pastor Chris Smith with your questions.
Tuesday Morning 6:00 - 7:00 AM
This study group meets every Tuesday morning all year
long except when Tuesday happens to be a holiday. You
are welcome to join at any time. We always have extra
copies of the particular study we are following. Our
study guides always generate great discussion on
different aspects of scripture, discipleship, and growth
in faith. Currently the group is working through a study
on Galatians from Life Change Series. Paul’s
explanations in Galatians serve to strengthen our
understanding of how Christ’s death and resurrection
affect us and the world. The group decided long ago to
put the emphasis on thoroughly exploring the lesson at
hand rather worry about staying on a schedule.
Consequently we don’t move to fast and missing a week or
two occasionally won’t leave you at a disadvantage. The
group picks a new study as the current one nears the end
and so we continue year after year.
As important as
the study, is the time we set aside to share our prayer
requests for the next week before we close with prayer.
In addition to the Bible study on Tuesday mornings, this
men’s bible study group also has a desire to serve.
Currently this group is responsible for serving dinner
to 30-50 low income individuals and families at Mt.
Calvary in Eagan the fourth Tuesday of every other
month. Serving dinner includes planning, shopping,
preparation and cleanup after dinner. Your ideas for
additional on going or one time service projects would
be appreciated.
Tuesday morning
Bible study is a great way to start your day and enjoy
the fellowship of other men committed to growing in
Jesus Christ. The coffee is on and we are anxious to get
to know you.
Wednesday Evening 6:00 - 7:30 PM
This study begins in the fall and concludes with the end
of the school year (there are a few summer gatherings).
You can come at any time and join us as we gather around
the Word. We share leadership and enjoy spending time
seeking together to understand the Scriptures as they
speak to us for life today.
Friday Morning 6:30 - 8:00 AM
Join this group of men for coffee and accountability
as we study God’s word and learn about Christ’s call to
discipleship. We are currently reading and discussing
John Ortberg's book ‘If You Want to Walk on Water,
You've Got to Get Out of the Boat,’ which challenges men
and all people to leave our boats of comfort and fear to
live a life of water-walking faith in Christ. The book
is available at the SOTV Welcome Center. Contact: Pastor
Chris Steubing.
