Facilitators are a key part of
9th Grade confirmation.
They
work in pairs to lead discussions with small groups of
9th graders and help out in some of the large group
presentations as well. Being a facilitator is an
excellent way to share your knowledge, minister to your
peers, and grow in your faith at the same time!
EXPECTATIONS
As
you know, Facilitators are key to the success of ninth
grade confirmation! We are committed to the facilitator
program because:
Facilitators
discuss
faith and life issues with a small group of ninth
graders. The training you receive for this ministry is
both fun and valuable in all your relationships.
We
take this program seriously, and we are seeking high
school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are prepared
to make a commitment
for
the
2008-09 school year.
Overview of
the
2008-09 Facilitator Program:
Application
&
Interview
To
help you make the best ministry choice for you.
Training
This
is mandatory for everyone, whether you are experienced
or not.
At training, Facilitators will learn
listening
skills, leading prayer, developing relationship, comfort
talking about faith, and handling conflict
(good skills for daily life!).
Feeding
Your Soul!
How
can you always "give" without ever
"getting"? To be a good leader, you must be
intentional about your own faith life.
At
times during the year, we'll have facilitator-only
nights to feed you body and soul! (Yes, there will be
food!)
Weekly
support from cool adults
Each
Wednesday at 6:35
p.m., Facilitators will meet with adult leaders to
actually have the discussion for the evening.
Your adult leader will
be
available to coach you
and help you with any difficulties in your small group.
Does
this sound like we expect a lot?
We
do, and we believe that you are
up
to
it.
We want you to be all that you can be
(you know, just like the
Army
. . .). Those of you who have been on a sports team or
in a play know that something done well requires lots of
preparation.
9th
graders appreciate the time you put in, and they notice
when you are not prepared, or not present! Check out
these comments from former students:
"Be
a good role model."
" Talk about the lesson and stay on
task."
"Care
about who I am." "
Show
me you believe in God."
"Listen
to us."
" Don't goof off."
"
Show
up & be my friend."
" Teach me that God is good."
" Be patient."
"
Accept
us for who we are."
" Don't lecture!"
