Youth Praise & Exalt
|
|
H.Y.P.E.
SUNDAY gives students in 6th, 7th,
and 8th Grade the opportunity to practice putting their
faith into action. They give back to our church
community by leading a worship service and then
help
spread God's love in the afternoon with offsite service
projects. It truly is an awesome experience! |
Many youth
say
H.Y.P.E. Sunday is
their
favorite
part of the year―
they even get a free T-shirt! |
The
second Sunday of the month, certain confirmation small
groups are assigned to participate in the service. Youth
can sing, play in the band, and do a skit, or read
lessons and prayers.
After worship, small groups eat bag lunches with
their guides and then go out to do a service project
together. Some
past projects included playing bingo at a nursing home,
cleaning low income housing, and playing games with
children at a homeless shelter.
Everyone
is back at the church by 3:30 p.m.
Sundays,
December 14 and January 11
10:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Each confirmation small group
participates in two HYPE Sundays each
year! Check with you guide if you need
to know which ones your group will
attend. Other HYPE-related questions can
be directed to Heidi Johnson (heidi.johnson@sotv.org
or 952-985-7362).
