How Youth Praise & Exalt                               Forms & Announcements

H.Y.P.E. SUNDAY gives students in 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade the opportunity to practice putting their faith into action. They give back to our church community by leading a worship service and then help spread God's love in the afternoon with offsite service projects. It truly is an awesome experience!

Many youth

say H.Y.P.E. Sunday is

their favorite part of the year―

they even get a free T-shirt!

The second Sunday of the month, certain confirmation small groups are assigned to participate in the service. Youth can sing, play in the band, and do a skit, or read lessons and prayers.

After worship, small groups eat bag lunches with their guides and then go out to do a service project together.  Some past projects included playing bingo at a nursing home, cleaning low income housing, and playing games with children at a homeless shelter.  Everyone is back at the church by 3:30 p.m.

Here is a brief rundown of the day’s schedule:

10:30 AM: Meet in the Music Room to drop off your bag lunch, pick up your purple t-shirt if you don’t have one already (if you have one, wear it), and find your group/guide

11:00 AM: Worship in the Sanctuary with your guide and the rest of your small group

12:00 Noon: Eat lunch back in the Music Room (groups that are doing their own projects on a different day may leave after worship)

12:30 PM: Head out with your small group to serve in the twin cities area

3:00 PM: Meet back at the church for pick-up

Parents get a postcard and a phone call from their student's guide the week before HYPE Sunday letting them know where their son or daughter will be serving.
