The Post-High School Years are all about finding your place in the world. They are about stepping out from the comfort zones of your youth and wrestling with who you are becoming. It is a time of growth and of trying out your dreams. It is a time when you are making important decisions and taking actions that just might set the course for the rest of your life.

Don't get too spooked by the the phrase "professional ministry" now . . . Do you have good memories of a favorite camp counselor? Are there any crazy Youthworks staff members you remember? Have you met people who have traveled to foreign countries through the church? All of those folks were doing ministry of one form or another . . . you could be doing that too!

If you've ever found yourself uttering the phrase, "I'd like to be a Pastor" or "I wonder what it is like to be a Youth Director," then this is the time to try it out! We've compiled a list of camps, youth organizations, and other opportunities you should consider checking out!

Summer Camps  ●  Youth Organizations  ●  Social Justice Organizations

SUMMER CAMPS
Camp Wapo based out of Amery, WI Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camps Inc. run camp at Wapo, Ox Lake, Luther Dell, and the Boundary Waters. If you didn't know this already, Wapo is the camp SOTV sends hundreds of kids to every summer! Several SOTV members have worked as summer staff at Wapo as well.

Crossways Camping Ministries is based out of Appleton, WI. They operate three camps throughout central Wisconsin, near Green Bay, Waupaca, and Wausau. Some of SOTV's Youth Team worked on summer staff with Crossways.

Good Earth Village is a camp located in Spring Valley, MN. 8:o8 Snow Camp has used their facility in the winter while some Youth Team members from SOTV worked there during the summer.

Living Water Ministries is a Lutheran camping organization based in Michigan. They offer residential, adventure, and service programs through their camps at Michi-Lu-Ca and Stony Lake. SOTV Youth Team members have served on summer staff there as well.

Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp is located near Kalispell, Montana. Flathead offers a variety of residential and adventure programs each summer, including a sailing trip SOTV participated in several years ago. Also, members of the SOTV family have worked at that camp as well.

Lutheran Ranches of the Rockies are based out of Fort Collins, CO. They include adventure and residential camps at Sky Ranch and Sleepy Owl Ranch in addition to service oriented Four Winds programs. SOTV Youth Team members have worked on staff at Sky Ranch in the past.

Youth Organizations
Youthworks is a youth service organization based out of Minneapolis. They run dozens of service trips at locations all across the country. Every summer, SOTV sends hundreds of youth on Youthworks trips!

Youth Encounter is a Roseville based youth and music ministry organization. In addition to sending teams of musicans out across the country and globe, Youth Encounter also coordinates regional Youth Congresses and Quakes. Several SOTV Youth Team members have served with Youth Encounter in the past.

Social Justice Organizations
Lutheran Volunteer Corps is based in Washington D.C. They offer year round volunteer positions in cities all across the country. SOTV members have spent time serving with LVC in the past.

Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to providing a simple, decent place to live for everyone. SOTV has a long history with Habitat in the Twin Cities, Milwaukee, and Kansas City. Habitat has campus chapters at many colleges across the country. They also offer year long service opportunities through the Americorps/VISTA program.

Americorps is a national community service organization with hundreds of opportunities for year long service available all across the country.

Peace Corps is a United States Government Agency dedicated to spreading the values of peace and friendship around the world. Volunteers agree to a two year commitment in a variety of settings around the world.
