A Devotion for Your Day

by Dannelle Bautista

Psalm 89:26

"You are my Father, my God, and the Rock that makes me safe."

What makes us feel safe? Being surrounded by loved ones, being home, enjoying comfort food, being financial about our trust in God? In a world that can feel very unsafe, with so much uncertainty, it can be challenging to stay steadfast in our faith.

Being apart from my family has made me feel unsafe. The uncertainty of government decisions that impact our marriage, our children, and our lives, has caused my faith to waver at times. It seems easy to give up - to succumb to the loneliness and despair, to lose hope, and to lose patience with God.

Instead, I made the decision to do what no one would expect. I stayed positive, focused on the good, focused on my "Rock." I knew that by doing this, God would keep me safe. As an inherently impatient person, this was no small feat!

Help me, Lord, to endure to the end. Help me to hold fast to your glorious word and proclaim it to others even in times of strife. Amen.
