9th Grade “Rest and Relax” Retreat; April 14 - 15, 2018. Travel by bus from Shepherd of the Valley to Camp Courage (near Maple Lake, Minnesota) for 24 hours of worship and activity to help us practice what it means to “rest in God.” The cost is $95 ($20 if you choose to apply your $75 Confirmation discount). 9th Grade Confirmation Class Options
Wednesdays // 7:00 - 8:00 pm
Some weeks there will be large group teachings or guest speakers, while other weeks students will choose from sessions such as Yoga Devotions, Faith and Art, Big Questions, Service Opportunities, etc. Each night kicks off with live music by the NexGen Praise band and includes faith conversation and prayer in small groups led by volunteer high school Student Ministers.
Choose one of these themed groups that meet as a small group with an adult leader. Groups sizes are limited and subject to change based on level of interest:
- Video Bible Study // Wednesdays // 7:00 - 8:00 pm
Dig deep into the history, cultural context, and message of scripture primarily through The History Channel's The Bible mini-series. Small group breakout conversations led by volunteer Adult and Student Ministers.
- NexGen Praise // Wednesday Rehearsals 6:15-7:00 pm // Wednesday Gathering Worship 7:00 - 7:15 pm
Lead opening music on Wednesdays, occasional weekend worship. An opportunity for instrumentalists and vocalists to use their musical talents. Never been in a band? Shawn Vaughan and Maggi Arndt will work with your skill set. *Expected to also attend Parent Nights and Faith Foundations teachings (Wednesday, January 3 – February 7, 7:00-8:00 pm) with all 9th Graders.
- Self-Discovery for Service // Sundays // 2:00 - 3:00 pm
Identify unique gifts & passions God has given you, using various self-assessment tools and arts and crafts exercises, as you live and reflect on a life of faith and service. Led by volunteer Adult and Student Ministers. *Expected to also attend Parent Nights and Faith Foundations teachings (Wednesday, January 3 – February 7, 7:00 - 8:00 pm) with all 9th Graders.
