CHOIRS

Cherub Choir :: Grades K & 1
A musical experience for kindergartners and first graders, this is the first step in the Shepherd of the Valley choir program. Cherub Choir members learn basic music fundamentals and begin the art of creating a beautiful singing tone. All learning and singing take place in a fun and relaxed environment. The Cherub Choir will perform at Sunday worship once a month and on special occasions such as Christmas and Easter.

Celebration Choir :: Grades 2-5
A choir just for the intermediate age singer. Second through fifth graders use their musical knowledge to begin part-singing. These advanced singers utilize their musical gifts in a variety of different ways throughout the choir year. The Celebration Choir performs at Sunday worship once a month and on special occasions such as Christmas and Easter.

NexGen Praise :: Grades 6-12
NexGen Praise is our newest musical opportunity for those in grades 6-12. Co-led by Shawn
Vaughan and Maggi Arndt on Wednesday nights at 6:15, there will be many opportunities for
instrumentalists and vocalists to use their musical talents. Never been in a band? Shawn and
Maggi will work with your skill set. Bring a friend and come check out this new venture!

Senior Choir :: Grades 9-12 & Adults
This large ensemble performs twice a month at Sunday morning worship, and once a month at Saturday evening worship. No audition is necessary - the only requirement is a love for singing with a group of fun people!

Sounds of Praise :: Adults
Openings in this ensemble are filled by audition.
Sounds of Praise is a contemporary music group made up of adult instrumentalists and vocalists. Sounds of Praise leads worship once a month and holidays including Christmas and Easter. 2016-17 schedule

HANDBELLS

Chapel Chimers :: Grades K & 1
An introduction to the art of ringing! Chapel Chimers is divided into Kindergarten & first graders and second & third graders. We learn the basics of handchime ringing and some fun songs. Chapel Chimers rings regularly at church services and also in concerts throughout the school year.

Grace Notes :: Grades 2-5
We learn the basics of ringing handbells using two bells and learning great music. Grace Notes rings at concerts and church services throughout the school year.

Valley Vibrations :: Grades 6-12
Valley Vibrations is a handbell choir for 6th-12th graders. The repertoire for this group is more challenging than that of the Grace Notes. Valley Vibrations rings at concerts and church services throughout the school year.

Bells of the Valley :: Grades 9-12 & Adults
Bells of the Valley is an adult handbell ensemble who typically ring 2 to 3 octaves of handbells and handchimes. Repertoire for this ensemble is less difficult and better suited for individuals just beginning their handbell ringing experience. Bells of the Valley rehearses weekly and performs at worship once per month and on special church holidays.

Bells of St. Andrew :: Adults
Openings in this ensemble are filled by audition.
Bells of St. Andrew is an adult handbell ensemble who ring the 5-octave set Malmark handbells and 4 octaves of Choirchimes. This an advanced group for experienced ringers. Bells of St. Andrew rehearses weekly and performs at worship once per month and special church holidays.

BANDS & ENSEMBLES

11:00 Worship Band :: Grades 9-12 & Adults
Openings in this ensemble are filled by audition.
Join a once-a-month rotation to provide energetic and dynamic praise music at our Band-Led Worship on Sundays at 11:00 am. The band focuses on tight rhythms, soaring guitars and rich harmonies. But most of all, the band seeks to create opportunities to experience God’s presence through music and worship.
Rehearse: Saturdays at 3:00 pm
Lead worship: Saturdays at 5:00 pm (some weeks), Sundays at 11:00 am (every week)

Brass Ensemble :: Grades 7-12 & Adults
The Brass Ensemble accompanies hymns and provides prelude, offertory or postlude pieces for worship once a month from September through May. The ensemble performs on special church holidays including Christmas Eve and Easter. Quintets and quartets may perform alongside the full ensemble on occasion. Instrumentation for the Brass Ensemble includes trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium and tuba.

Wind Ensemble :: Grades 7-12 & Adults
The Wind Ensemble provides special music for offerings and accompanies hymns every other month from October until May. Instrumentation for the Wind Ensemble may include any brass, woodwind or percussion instrument.

Solos & Ensembles :: All Ages
There are many opportunities for both vocal and instrumental soloists and small ensembles to provide special music during worship services at Shepherd of the Valley. Assistance in finding and picking out music is available.
