Associate Pastor Call: Wendy Steger (2017)

The Congregation voted overwhelmingly in favor of calling Wendy Steger as Associate Pastor, Connect. Thank you to everyone who attended and congratulations, Wendy!

Wendy’s Ordination will be Saturday, Feb. 18 at 5:00 pm. She will be installed at all weekend services.

Candidate Summary:

Wendy Steger is currently serving as interim pastoral assistant at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Wendy was originally hired to serve an interim need through the call and transition of a new Senior Pastor along with two additional interim roles.

During her time at SOTV, Wendy has focused on the core ministry area of Connect building on core competencies through the Homeless and Racial Justice initiatives. She has a passion for fellowship, outreach, and service ministries. Wendy has established relationships through general pastoral duties within the congregation as well as the extended community making her a natural candidate to continue the connect ministry oversight through the ministries of SOTV as we live into our vision.

Wendy graduated from Luther Seminary with a Master of Divinity in 2014. She served Farmington Lutheran Church during her internship in 2013-2014. Wendy is awaiting first call with ordination.

Wendy is married to Don Steger. They have three children; Ryan, Ali, and Anna and she deeply connected in the Dakota County community. Wendy’s hobbies and interests involve family and friends, outdoor activities, book club, and a dedication to the kids’ sports. She enjoys time at the family lake home regularly.

Call Summary:

Your SOTV Church Council is recommending Wendy Steger to the Congregation to serve as Associate Pastor, Connect. Wendy is a collaborative team leader with a strong passion for ministry. Her desire to care for people and develop relationships shows through in the work she has done.

In collaboration with Leadership, Pastoral Staff, Staff Leaders, and the Synod this recommendation comes fully supported to the congregation.

Congregational Dialogue; Meeting and Vote; Timeline:

Congregational Dialogues regarding Wendy’s call are scheduled for Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 11:00 am and 12:00 Noon in the Chapel.

A special meeting of the congregation has been called for Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 12:15 pm in the Sanctuary. A vote will be taken to approve the recommendation to call Wendy Steger to serve as Associate Pastor of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Following an affirmative vote, a timeline will be set and a Letter of Call will be extended.
