“I saw God at Wapo”

Oh my goodness. My first summer as counselor at Camp Wapo just ended and it had to be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Camp is such a special place filled with such special people. It’s so surrounded by God’s presence, words can barely describe it. I don’t think I’ve ever felt stronger in my faith and felt the way God works in our lives more.
I saw God in so many ways. I saw God in every worship we did to start out the week. In every face of every staff. God was in every camper’s smile and laugh through each week. I saw God in every conversation on the walk to first aid. Every friendship bracelet that was made. God was there for every prayer before meals. I saw God in the short one hour we got off each day. In every sunshine that was sprinkled. In all the chips and noodles. God was there for every skit. I saw God in each face paint design. God’s in the songs at chapel and campfire that we sing thousands of times.
God’s there for First Word and Last Word. God’s in the canoe sinking. God was in every pie smashed in a counselor’s face. God was in all the tie-dye stains. God’s there for every mighty mighty game. God was with us through all the cleaning. I saw God at staff closing to end out each week. I saw God in every tear shed on the last couple days.
“I saw God in every one of the staff’s hearts.”
I saw God in every member of my group and all of their amazingness. I saw God at Wapo.
I am beyond thankful that God called me into this place and that I accepted this crazy adventure. I’m so happy God was with me through it all. I’ve learned so many things this summer and I met so many faith-filled and big-hearted people. I am so, so, so, so, so grateful for this experience and I know I’ll never forget it.
