Looking for Friendly People

Posted: January 18, 2017

By Pastor Duane Paetznick

We are looking for people from our congregation who are willing to help show care to others. There are a couple of very specific things you can do to show your friendliness.

One possibility for you is that you can be a Friendly Phone Caller (for one night only). We hope to find 30 people willing to come to SOTV on Tuesday night, February 7 from 6:30 - 9:00 pm to call other members of our congregation on our phones. This is simply a phone call to reach out to others. There’s no hidden agenda to these calls. No one will be asking for money. It’s just a chance to visit and find out how others in our congregation are doing.

Another “friendly” thing you might be interested in doing is becoming a Friendly Visitor. Friendly Visitors are people from SOTV who connect to others in the congregation through actual visits to their homes. These visits happen on a regular basis, sometimes monthly. This is a ministry that we have been doing at SOTV for a number of years. But we’d like to re-ignite it in the next few months. There’s a meeting scheduled for veteran and potential new Friendly Visitors on Saturday, January 28 from 9:00-11:30 am, where you can find out more about this vital ministry.

Why are we doing these things? Because we are called to be a community ofpeople that care for each other. We realize that we often make an effort to call and visit people when we are asking for something – like a pledge. Those calls and visits are important. But we should be checking in with people at other times too.

If you are interested in being part of either of these teams, please contact Pastor Duane or Susan Ferber at 952-432-6351 or via email at duane.paetznick@sotv.org or susan.ferber@sotv.org
