Our Daily Bread Food Shelf (2017)

Thanks to everyone’s help, we are now a SuperShelf and will be the model for future food shelves! (2017)

In the past six months, 45.7% of clients got half or more of their produce from Our Daily Bread, and 71.4% got half or more of all of their food from Our Daily Bread.

Our Daily Bread food shelf is the second in the state to achieve certification. We were certified in August of 2017. The food shelf is focusing on converting to healthier choices, but nothing will be taken away that is currently offered. The new “SuperShelf” is giving individuals and families the opportunity to shop for healthier foods such as meat, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, and more.

SOTV’s food shelf is going to be an example for future food shelves in the area. The plan is to open multiple food shelves in the next two years, where the shelves must apply and be chosen by the state. Then the organizations will have Our Daily Bread Food Shelf as an example of how to set-up and stock their own food shelf.

Our Daily Bread Food Shelf has changed quite a bit this last year. Some positive feedback from our clients include: availability of foods from the client’s culture, the amount and abundance of healthy foods available, the volunteers and staff having pleasant greetings and listening to the client’s needs, and the overall satisfaction with the food shelf. To find out more about the food shelf, visit their webpage at sotv.org/foodshelf.

Most importantly, we couldn’t do this great work without the help and donations from the congregation. We want to thank you and let you know that we are making a difference in the community through your support!
