Rick Anderson is a cycling enthusiast, youth mentor, and SOTV member. All year long, he and his friends gather donated bikes to tune up for this annual sale.
In the past eight years, Rick and friends have sold bikes to raise more than $95,000 in proceeds for Kids ‘n Kinship, a non-profit that Shepherd of the Valley also supports with gifts of benevolence.
Rick is now seeking bike donations. Help and storage space is also needed! As the sale continues to get bigger each year, Rick is seeking additional help from the community. Much of the bike refurbishing is simply cleaning the donated bikes, however if you have some bike maintenance experience Rick would greatly appreciate your help. Rick is extremely flexible and would be happy to teach you a few things about bike tune-ups as well. His biggest limiting factor is lack of storage space for repaired bikes as they wait for the sale in May. If you have some clean dry space to donate -- a basement? warehouse? storage unit? -- PLEASE contact Rick! A generous tax deduction for your donation may be available. http://www.ricksbikesale.com/
Kids 'n Kinship matches children who have a need for an additional supportive relationship with carefully screened adult volunteers. See more at www.kidsnkinship.org.
