Helping Our Neighbors Get Off the Streets

Homelessness in Dakota County
Panel Discussion
Monday, January 30
7:00 - 8:30 pm
Free, no registration needed

Are there people experiencing homelessness in Dakota County? Where do they sleep? How many are military veterans? Senior citizens? Teenagers? What should I do when I see someone holding a cardboard sign at the corner? Current data shows that 50 people are turned away from shelters each night, which are designed to help in emergencies, due to a lack of space.

Some of the speakers have been homeless and some have worked to end it within Dakota County. Discussion will include efforts to open an emergency shelter in Dakota County for youth age 18 and older, women and men. Your involvement starts with learning. Learning is the first act of service in addressing those in need of emergency shelter within our community.
