Please join us for a presentation by board certified genealogist J.H. “Jay” Fonkert. He will answer basic questions about what to consider in taking a DNA test, the kind of DNA test to take, and the different companies providing this service. For those who have already completed a DNA test, he will explain how to make sense of ethnicity estimates and cousin match lists. He will also touch on some of the family history software programs.

Mr. Fonkert is the president of the Minnesota Genealogical Society, a lecturer, researcher and has his own research service. He has been an instructor at the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, and his research and articles have appeared in numerous publications. He is co-managing editor of The Minnesota Genealogist.

This program is provided free of charge to the church and community thanks to a grant from Thrivent.
