The Year of Send: “Here am I, send me”

The Send team has been meeting since the summer of 2016, defining goals and objectives and planning monthly events to call attention to our mission to be sent and serve. We see Welcome, Transform and Send as a continuous loop where one feeds the next and goes round again. Read the final report by clicking here

Keeping true to our vision at Shepherd of the Valley, in the past two years, we have focused on being Welcomed  into the fellowship of Christ, and have been Transformed  by his Spirit and Word. We now focus on our mission and opportunity to be Sent  to love and serve others.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send?” And “Who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I, send me!”  Isaiah 6:8

Welcome to the Year of Send!

Taking Out Jesus

Jesus reminds us that our faith isn’t meant to just be lived out at church on Sunday morning. We are called by God to be SENT out in the world to love and serve our neighbor. Whether it’s at the cabin over the weekend or in the midst of the regular week routine, we are given so many opportunities to show God’s love to others. This summer we’ve invited others to physically take Jesus with them to look for opportunities to love and serve others, and take a picture and capture the moment! Here is a collection of those images that have been captured over the summer.

It’s not too late to be a part of this project! We’d love to see how you have been SENT this summer.

Discover and Use Your Spiritual Gifts

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”

1 Corinthians 12:4-7

God has given each one of us a set of spiritual gifts that help us love and serve others. Want to find out how God has gifted you? Take the ELCA Spiritual Assessment and then let us help you Get Connected to put those gifts to use!

These shirts can be worn anytime, but particularly when involved in service activities.
