April 2020 Newsletter Survey Update

(2020) As staff, Council, and leadership teams have considered feedback from the surveys and focus groups, we have developed new language for our vision, mission, and values. You can find this language on our website (on the “about us” page), and soon in other communication tools as well.

Vision. Welcome home! Gathered. Loved. Sent.

Mission. In response to God’s love, we worship, learn, care, and connect with each other and the world around us.

Values. Centered in the love of God in Jesus, we are:

  • Gathered. All are welcomed and invited, regardless of age, ethnicity, race, ability, faith background, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
  • Loved. We want SOTV to feel like “home” – a safe place where people are accepted, known, and treated with respect and dignity – and also challenged to grow.
  • Sent. We nurture this growing faith, equipping individuals and the church body to meet needs, change lives, and restore hope in our homes, congregation, and communities.

In the coming months, we’ll also be developing action items that:

  • Support our vision, mission, and values
  • Address feedback from the fall survey and focus groups
  • Align with the four priorities identified by Pastor Rick through his listening to the congregation, and confirmed in the fall survey (ministry in times of transition, being both wider and deeper, increasing benevolent giving, and paying off our mortgage).
