Each One Teach One: Slavery’s Legacy and the Black Experience (1619 – Now)

When & Where
Saturday, April 18
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
SOTV Room 22
What to Expect
This is a three-hour introductory class designed to help white adults understand the history of slavery in America and how that history continues to shape the lived experiences of Black Americans. The course emphasizes learning, listening, and personal responsibility rather than guilt, debate, or political activism.
About the Speaker
This class will be facilitated by SOTV member Carolyn Sampson, a white peer educator and storyteller who has completed two semesters of formal study in the history of racism and a sixteen-hour intensive training (provided by the Women of the ELCA), all taught by Black educators.
