What fun it was to see the smiling faces as clients could receive global cuisine items for their families. These are some of the most difficult foods for us to secure through our food partners, yet one of the most requested by families. What a blessing it is to have the opportunity to share this resource!
On Sunday, August 21, a group from SOTV spent the afternoon at the Native American Powwow on the Reservation in Prior Lake. The Grand Entry had over 2,000 dancers in full native regalia with beautiful bead work and colorful feathers. The dancers begin at age 2 and dance well into their senior years.
We had a successful blood drive in August with 64 donors and 62 pints of blood collected, exceeding the goal for the day. Through your generosity, the donations will potentially save up to 186 lives!
The last few years have been something else, haven’t they? Whatever the new normal turns out to be it won’t be the same as the old normal. What exactly it will look like is yet to be determined. Stay tuned. This last fiscal year…
Throughout September, the SOTV Food Shelf is collecting cleaning supplies. Please bring donations in a paper bag (preferably with handles) to SOTV while the building is open.
As we continue to make our way out of this pandemic, begin a fall programming season that is ambitious in both scope and breadth, and come back together in new and familiar ways, it’s the perfect time to welcome all of our SOTV family and friends home again. September is the month to come home!

Erin Swenson-Hatzung concluded as Grades 4-5 Children’s Ministry Director in August. Erin devoted 11 years to SOTV in Children and Youth Ministry, and has moved to a new role as Director of Youth and Family Ministry at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Woodbury. Thank you for your ministry, Erin!
