(2017) At Shepherd of the Valley, we are addressing the topic of race because the Gospel of Jesus Christ commands us to love God and our neighbor, seeking to love and serve in all that we do. Our brothers and sisters of color have been deeply wounded by racial injustice in our culture and institutions, and it is our moral duty to address this deep hurt and need in our community.
The mission of the Racial Truth & Reconciliation Team is to educate and equip people in our congregation about issues of race and racial injustice in order to empower them to be ministers of racial reconciliation and healing in their own spheres of influence.
We will continue to host a variety of studies, movies, speakers, and other cross-cultural events. Educational topics will include race, privilege, and diversity as we seek to at all times hold up the Gospel of Christ in our teaching.
We are trying our humble best to honor our brothers and sisters of color by learning about their struggles and taking them seriously. Please join us as we learn to truly love like Jesus did.
