CENTERED IN CHRIST

Centered in Christ is a new vibrant and essential program at SOTV, reflecting on stories that have been life-giving. We know more stories of impact are out there. The hope for Centered in Christ is to increase gifts and offerings by at least $200,000 so that we can achieve our goals in the coming year and continue to share and experience stories of impact in and through the communities of SOTV, Apple Valley, and beyond.
A team of 3 staff and 6 lay leaders have been meeting weekly over the last several months and worked diligently with a consultant to author the program and initiatives of focus for SOTV this year.
- TAKING CARE of our home so that it’s a WELCOMING and SAFE place for ALL
- TENDING to GENERATIONAL NEEDS so that everyone can participate FULLY in life with SOTV
- NURTURING LEADERS so that we have stronger CONNECTIONS within the CONGREGATION and COMMUNITY
- INVESTING in our ministries so that we continue the work GOD IS CALLING us to do
When asked about participating in this way, Melissa Taphorn noted, “[It was] the opportunity to work with certain leaders and the premise of this program. [This program] shines a light on what our offerings truly fund. Instead of looking solely at the line items of the church budget, we are asked to think about what those line items mean to us and our members personally. I really like and appreciate this.”
Other volunteers share experiences of personal growth and fulfillment. As Carleen Melin shared, “It’s a way for me to use my time and skills in a different way, outside of my job. I have also enjoyed getting to know some of the staff better and being introduced to congregation members who are part of this group.”
Carleen continues, “The staff at SOTV works really hard. They’re so tuned into their business areas and have such passion for the church and congregation. There is so much that goes on behind-the-scenes to make the church run and for it to look seamless.”
You can help make Centered in Christ a success! Over the next few weeks you’ll see videos, hear from congregation members, and have the opportunity to renew your offering to God. By investing in SOTV you are part of a faithful community who is dedicated to serving Christ and the church. Your generosity will support our ministry and also inspire others to give generously.
And if you’re looking for ways to get involved at SOTV, hear the words of Cheryl Seely, “Just do it. All of us are responsible for taking care of our home and encouraging love for everyone. Spending more time with our SOTV family is rewarding and allows us to build strong relationships to give back to others.”
Jennifer Davidson, Director of Operations, adds, “If you haven’t already, I encourage you to learn more about participating in the ministry of the church. You already possess the necessary gifts and skills to make a difference. I am grateful to all of our members for all the ways in which each of us makes up this faith community of Shepherd of the Valley.”
Here’s to another 40, 80, 120+ years of faithful ministry through the people of SOTV.
Be inspired. Be joyful. And be blessed.
