Grandparent Tiny Try-It-Out Communion: Sharing God’s Gift of Grace

Through his life and ministry, Jesus showed us again and again what love looks like. We focus this month on where we see God’s grace and love in the meals Jesus shared with powerful people and outcasts, strangers and friends.

Ideas for Grandparents

Consider these ideas for Communion: Sharing God’s Gift of Grace that you can incorporate into your own unique circumstances:

  • As a regular caregiver for little ones: Play the Given For You Card Game with family or friends. Print and cut out the cards and use images from the Last Supper and Holy Week to play games similar to Go Fish, Memory, and Old Maid.
  • With older grandkids: With their help, bake a treat or make a meal to deliver to a neighbor or a friend. You can print and personalize a Gift Tag with a note or drawing. Before making your delivery, read Mark 14:21-24 and say a prayer over the food, just like Jesus did.
  • At a family gathering: Along with the invitation to get together, include a link to the song Crowded Table by the Highwomen.
  • From a distance: Encourage your family members (near and far) to spread God’s gift of grace in their own community by donating shelf-stable food to a local Food Shelf.

How will you experience Communion: Sharing God’s Gift of Grace with those you love?
