Grandparent Tiny Try-It-Out: God’s Story, Our Story

The Apostle’s Creed tells the story of who
God is, and when we profess our faith, we share both God’s story, and our part in
it. Make your own mini book and find other activities and ideas to share the story
of God and your faith!

Ideas for Grandparents

Consider these ideas for God’s Story, Our Story that you can incorporate into your own unique circumstances:

  • As a regular caregiver for little ones: Enjoy the read-aloud of “My Very Favorite Book in the Whole World,”read by the author Malcom Mitchell.
  • From a distance: Create your own mini book by coloring in the illustrated template, or drawing/writing your own story in the blank template about a time when you experienced God’s love. Mail (or scan and send) your book along with a blank copy to your loved ones, and invite them to share their version with you.
  • With older grandkids: Gift them a book from this list of excellent picture books and middle grade books with strong personal narratives (scroll down for books geared for older kids). Hearing others’ stories in first person can inspire and help us tell our own!
  • At a family gathering: Use these questions to prompt storytelling about faith. Make it a game by cutting apart the list into individual questions. Allow one person to draw a slip of paper and answer the question (modified, if needed, to fit their age) – and choose someone else to answer, too.

How will you experience God’s Story, Our Story with those you love?
