Grandparent Tiny Try-It-Out: Spirited Play

Find ways to enjoy God’s awesome creation—the sun, fresh air, plants and animals and so much natural beauty. Bonus: in Minnesota we are surrounded by water, which is an important symbol of faith! Each time we encounter water, let’s bless it, remember God who gave us this gift, and cherish our time together.

Ideas for Grandparents

Consider these ideas for Spirited Play that you can incorporate into your own unique circumstances:

  • As a regular caregiver for little ones: Check out some new Splash Pads over the course of the summer. Dip a finger in the water and trace a cross on each other’s foreheads to make the connection between the water we play in and the water of Baptism.
  • From a distance: Does a baby in your life enjoy playing “Peek-A-Boo?” This is a game you can play on Facetime – and follow your “Peek-A-Boo” with a “God loves you!”
  • With older grandkids: Take advantage of summer break to take them to one of Minnesota’s best Water Parks for cool adventures and to celebrate God’s gifts of water and life.
  • At a family gathering: Make “Sponge Water Bombs” – an eco-friendly alternative to water balloons – and with each one you throw, say “God loves you!”

How will you use Spirited Play to practice faith with those you love?

This summer our VBS curriculum is based on the Parable of the Sower – and PreK through 5th Graders are planting seeds each day! We’d love extra hands to help with this station, and many other VBS volunteer opportunities.
