Grandparent Tiny Try-It-Out: Popsicle Prompts

“Popsicle Prompts” make it fun to incorporate prayer and meaningful conversation into your interactions with grandkids. Gather a handful of popsicle sticks and fill them with topics for prayer or conversation—then, whenever you feel stumped, pull a prompt for a quick check-in with God and people who are important to you!

Ideas for Grandparents

Consider these ideas for Popsicle Prompts that you can incorporate into your own unique circumstances:

  • As a regular caregiver for little ones: Rather than writing words, draw small pictures (or print photos) of family members, friends, and pets and attach them to popsicle sticks. Let the child pick who you pray for that day.
  • At a special family gathering: Put the name of each person on a popsicle stick, and invite everyone to pick one at random to be their secret prayer buddy until the next time you’re all together.
  • From a distance: Pick a prompt – to share over a FaceTime call or text message – for prayer or to spark conversation.
  • With older grandkids: Take them out for an actual frozen treat (malt, sundae, Blizzard, etc.) and let them pick a prompt or two from this list – each of you can respond.

How will you use Popsicle Prompts to talk and pray with those you love?
